Operations

Fire Suppression

Fighting fires is our primary responsibility, but the world has changed over the past few years, making the fire department an “all-hazard” first responder. We train and stand ready to respond to our communities’ fires, medical responses, disasters, and rescue situations 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Medical Response

Although Gore Hill does not have an ambulance, we do operate our own Quick Response Unit (QRU). Gore Hill is licensed under the state to offer Basic Life Support with Advanced Life Support Authorization, non transport. Which means we can perform advanced life support ahead of ambulance response.

Gore Hill maintains robust mutual aid agreements with the Montana Air National Guard firefighters, Great Falls Emergency Services, and Mercy Flight in order to provide our community with the very best medical care outside of a hospital.

EMS is managed by an EMS Service Manager and an Emergency Room physician responsible for quality assurance, hiring of new recruits, and liaising with community partners.  Together, they establish policies and procedures, conduct various specialty training, and manage continuing education, licensing, certification management.

Wildland

Due to our location and large wildland interface, the fire department’s wildland response remains a priority.

Gore Hill Fire Rescue currently maintains two type 6 Brush engines and 2 water tenders.  Our state and county mutual aid agreements provide a robust response if reinforcements are needed.

Air support is provided by Montana’s Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) in Helena and Missoula.

Firefighters receive annual training in the latest firefighting and safety procedures and are equipped with the best wildland firefighting equipment available.
